It’s time to embrace the Turkish Culture in our cosmopolitan city once again! The 24th annual Houston Turkish Festival will take place at the Jones Plaza on Saturday and Sunday November 14th and 15th, 2015.

The doors open at 11 AM both days and close at 11 PM on Saturday and 10 PM on Sunday. As has been the tradition, a Turkish disco dance hour will close out each day’s festivities.

Enjoy Delicious Turkish Foods and Pastries; take a sip of Turkish coffee and have your coffee cup fortune read; learn about and take part in Traditional Turkish Arts & Crafts including water marbling and ceramics; enjoy a full day of stage entertainment including Authentic Turkish Folklore, Whirling Dervishes, and oriental dances performed by the world famous Turkish folk band, TUANA; dedicated children’s activity area with fun filled activities from balloon clowns, face painting to a magic show and storytelling; listen to live Turkish music performances; enjoy a traditional attire fashion show and peruse the Grand Bazaar offering modern and traditional arts and crafts from various lands. The festival will also host a number of cultural exhibitions as well as a mini world pavilion with participation from many of the Houston sister cities.

Venue: Jones Plaza has become the home of the annual Turkish festival in Houston since the early 2000s. The location proved to be very convenient for an event of this scope with easy close proximity parking. Jones Plaza is located downtown Houston at 601 Louisiana Street. Cultural Exhibitions: Cultural events include lectures on a wide variety of topics from history of Sufism and Rumi to Christian sites of Turkey, from ecological and biological treasures of Turkey to its economic role in the Eurasia region, and concerts of various artists. These lectures are typically done at our annual festival, or other special occasions such as the Turkey Day organized by the Houston World Affairs Council for area high school teachers.

Kids Venue: The venue will have a dedicated children’s corner that will be filled will fun activities. The program will include balloon clowns, face painting, finger painting, jewelry making, music, dance and a magic show.

Authentic Turkish Food: Delicious Turkish and Mediterranean food is served by a number of well known Houston restaurants; a festival Houstanbul café serving specialty sujuk sandwiches and a special pastry booth serving baklava & other desserts & pastries along with Turkish tea or coffee. Turkish beer & wine as well as a variety of soft drinks will be available.

The 24th Houston Turkish Festival will celebrate all things Turkish, including authentic Turkish food, coffee, music, traditional folklore dancing including the famous whirling dervishes, a kids corner filled with fun activities, arts & crafts, cultural exhibitions as well a very colorful Grand Bazaar.
