A message to CrimsonAti from Andi Mapes, a founding member of CrimsonAti. Andi and daughter Kat have been volunteer coordinators for this event for five of the six years the fundraiser has existed.

"Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure was started six years ago by survivors, caregivers, and healthy folks hoping to eradicate this wretched disease. Through last year, Walk Ahead has raised in excess of one million dollars for brain tumor research that is changing people’s lives. This annual event is an opportunity for us, and everyone participating, to appreciate each day, look for grace in the little things and offer hope to those struggling.” They volunteer in memory of Bitsy, who died of a brain tumor in 2000. Her daughters are UA Class of 2015 and 2017. They volunteer in memory of Lauren Hill, a Mount St. Joseph University classmate and friend of Kat’s. CrimsonAti is helping to make strides in brain tumor research by supporting Layup 4 Lauren.

We hope CrimsonAti will promote the efforts of Walk Ahead and consider volunteering. We have jobs for individuals or groups. There is plenty to do and our success is dependent on our volunteers. The event is October 25th and we have volunteer shifts from 6:00am-9:00am, 9:00am to noon or, for the very hearty, 6:00am until noon. Wearing your CrimsonAti apparel, CrimsonAti volunteers can man a water table, work together as course marshals or help feed and water our participants.

If you have a minute check out http://www.walkahead.org. We would LOVE to have CrimsonAti support. Volunteers can register online or with a volunteer form provided under Ticket link above. Give me a shout with questions. We are BamaStrong and Crimson Proud!
