Report: Man Crashes Car Into Icy River And Leaves Dying Girlfriend In The Passenger Seat To Drown

A New Jersey man was arrested and now faces multiple charges in connection to the death of a 23-year-old woman who was left to drown in an icy river.

On Sunday, 24-year-old Jacob T. Garrett was reportedly driving at a high speed in Burlington City when he hit a parked minivan, crashed through a barrier and plunged into the Delaware River.

While he was eventually able to escape, he left passenger Stephanie White in the car.

The Burlington County Times reports that Garrett has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, causing a death while driving with a suspended license and endangering an injured victim.

Witness say that Garrett stood on top of the submerged vehicle and yelled for bystanders to help “his girlfriend.” He fled after he was pulled out of the chilly water by several passersbys.

When first responders arrived on scene, White was still in the vehicle with her seatbelt on. She was removed from the vehicle, before being transported to Lourdes Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Burlington police used a K-9 named Kobi to find Garrett at a Burlington Towne Center light-rail platform, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office shared. Police stopped the train he was then found by officers.

Garrett is being held in jail and will be scheduled for a first appearance at the Burlington County Courthouse in Mount Holly.

A Louisiana man has been arrested, after he allegedly attempted to run his girlfriend and her three kids down with his truck.

The Baton Rouge police report revealed that 62-year-old Benjamin Blount became enraged when his girlfriend refused to have sex with him early Sunday morning. She told officers that Bount "wanted to have sex and she was not in the mood."

He was later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with second-degree kidnapping, battery, child endangerment and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

He allegedly admitted to police that he had grabbed his girlfriend to keep her from leaving the apartment, but claimed it was because he didn't want the children out in the cold weather.

A huh.
