Man Kills 1-Year-Old Daughter, Two Other Family Members And Then Himself After His Ex Refused To Get Back Together — Video

A Brooklyn father suffering from schizophrenia and drinking Hennessy shot his one-year-old daughter, his step-father, and step-brother before turning the gun on himself in a murder-suicide.

The troubled man, 27-year-old Terrance Briggs, had attempted to get back together with his daughter's mother, Olivia Callendar, shortly before committing the heinous act.

Terrance was on FaceTime with the mother of his 1-year-old Laylay on Tuesday night.

Briggs told Callender, "Life is short" in the 9:15 p.m. call.

Briggs, who was schizophrenic, had recently been seeing his daughter again.

An insider said, "He wanted to get back together with her for the baby’s sake. She must have said no. He told her he was depressed because somebody in his family had died."

Briggs had been drinking with his brother that evening in their fourth-floor apartment at the Riverdale Osborne Terraces complex in Brownsville. He was not taking his medication to control his schizophrenia at the time of the tragedy.

The brother left the apartment before the killing spree, which left four family members dead.

The victims included 1-year-old Laylay, Briggs’ stepfather, Loyed Drain Jr., Briggs' 16-year-old half-brother Loyed Drain III, as well as Briggs.

Loyed was found shot to death on the toilet in the bathroom, while his teenage son was found shot playing video games in a bedroom.

Terrence and his daughter were found in another bedroom. LayLay was on the bed, while her father's body was between the bed and the wall.

A .40-caliber handgun was found in one of the bedrooms. No suicide note was left behind.

The children's grandmother, Patricia, found the four victims dead with gunshot wounds to their heads when she came over to babysit around 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The 53-year-old woman was married to the elder Drain, according to police.

Green told police Briggs and his stepdad argued often, with Briggs even threatening Drain with a loaded gun in 2005.

Sources close to the amily also claimed Briggs previously threatened to kill his entire family in the past.

Neighbors said Loyed Drain was loved in the community.

A neighbor shared, "He was a retired transit worker, he was in the military and he was one of the sweetest guys you can ever come into contact with. He would help anybody. He would give the shirt off his back man."

Another neighbor, James Walker, revealed the family had lived in the apartment for over a decade.

Walker stated, "Their relationship was good. They were friendly people. They ain't never have no trouble."

Walker revealed that police told him that the murder/suicide happened around 1 a.m., but he never heard gunshots.

He said, "This is a shocking thing to me because stuff like this just don't happen. They were a wholesome, respectful, decent family."

However, police did reveal there is a history of domestic violence calls to the home.

The shooting took place in the Riverdale Osborne Towers apartment building.

The mother of the 1-year-old little girl, Callender, had been away on an overnight gambling trip when the horrific incident took place.

The 27-year-old distraught mother was seen at the prayer vigil outside of the apartment building. She cried, "My baby! My baby. She’s gone. She’s not coming back. My Laylay. Oh my God."
