The victim told another teacher about the encounters, who reported it to authorities and the school administration.

Olajire-Aro confessed to the sexual encounters with the student, according to the affadavit.

"The incidents occurred off campus," Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said. She was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center and the investigation was ongoing.

Olajire-Aro, a native of Dallas, was arrested on Monday. She was ordered not to have any contact with the victim, his family or students of the school. The judge also banned from leaving the state without permision.

Olajire-Aro taught pre-calculus and algebra at the school and was also a tennis coach. She has a master's degree from the University of Texas in education. She does not have a prior criminal record and no disciplinary actions were ever taken against her.

The teacher is married and her husband is a student at the Medical University of South Carolina.  She has a 10-month-old baby girl.

District spokesman, Andy Pruitt, revealed, "This is her first year of employment with Charleston County School District ... she is on paid administrative leave."

The victim's mother, who was not named, made a statement during Olajire-Aro's hearing. She stated, "She is an awesome teacher but she is a hellacious person for what she did.  "He is 17, 17. He is not an adult. ... Emotionally, he is not ready for this. I'm not ready for the texts, the phone calls, the comments."

Olajire-Aro faces faces a count of sexual battery with a student, a spokesman from the Charleston Police Department said. The felony charge carries up to five years in prison.
