Report: Man Found Guilty For Killing Fiancée's 8-Year-Old Son After He Didn't Clean His Room

A Pittsburgh man has been found guilty of killing his fiancée’s eight-year-old son by repeatedly slamming him onto the floor for not cleaning his room. Orlando Williams, 39, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Williams was charged with homicide and child endangerment counts in the June 2016 death of 8-year-old JonMarquis Stepich, who suffered critical head injuries.

Authorities allege Williams was drunk and flew into a rage after he tripped over a laundry basket in the boy's room. He attempted to slam the boy on his bed but missed and slammed him onto the floor.

The horrific details of JonMarquis' emerged in court. The boy's head was banged on a flat surface "over and over and over and over again."

Williams and the child's mother took the boy to a nearby hospital. JonMarquis was flown to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he died three days later.

JonMarquis  had to be placed on a ventilator and suffered bleeding on  his brain and a herniated brain stem. The criminal complaint stated that the child had bruises all over his body.

During sentencing the judge stated that the only question was "Did the defendant kill with specific intent?" She said that she found "beyond a reasonable doubt the answer is yes."

A defense attorney had previously argued the evidence presented wouldn't support a charge more serious than involuntary manslaughter. She said Williams had been a 'father figure' to the boy for years and was 'inconsolable' over his death.

Dan DeMarco, the attorney that represented the child's mother Aliesha Lininger, stated, "My client is very satisfied with the verdict. It was very tragic what happened. Justice was definitely served today in the courtroom."

Lininger was charged with endangering the welfare of children in the case. She testified against Williams last week, telling the court her fiance he had been abusive to JonMarquis and her other son. She revealed he often spanked the boys with belts and cords.

Williams is also a registered sex offender who was convicted of rape in 2002.
