Report: New Orleans Rap Legend Mystikal Enters A Plea For Rape And Kidnapping Charges

Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree rape and second degree kidnapping, stemming from an incident in 2016.

The 46-year-old rapper waived an arraignment in Caddo District Court on Monday. He is being held in Caddo Correctional Center, after turning himself in to authorities on Aug. 21.

Mystikal's bond has been set at $3M, but the "Danger" rapper is hoping that amount will be reduced at is court date in Jan. 18. 

Mystikal's arraignment had been pushed back from two separate scheduled hearings in September and November in which he showed up without legal representation. On Monday, the rapper finally came before Caddo District Judge Ramona Emanuel with Timothy Yazbec of New Orleans' Smith and Fawer law firm, by his side.

The alleged sexual assault took place at a Shreveport casino where Mystikal was performing on the Legends of Southern Hip Hop tour on Oct. 22, 2016. The rapper is accused of raping a woman in the casino. 

The Shreveport Police Sex Crimes gathered the victim's statement, witness testimony and DNA evidence, revealing they found evidence linking the rapper and another male to the crime. 

Mystikal turned himself in to set the record straight back in August, after police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities also arrested rapper Lil Hood, whose real name is Averweone Holman, on Aug. 18 in Killeen, Texas. Holman was also charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges. A woman named Tenichia Wafford was also taken into police custody. She’s was charged with obstruction of justice for attempting to talk the victim out of filing charges against the two men.

On Monday #Mystikal pleaded not guilty to charges that stemmed from an assault that took place in October of 2016.
Tenichia admitted that she called the woman because they were friends, claiming the victim told her she was not raped.  Holman and Wafford are both also being held at Caddo Correctional Center.

Mystikal was at the top of his game 15 years ago when he was sentenced to six years in prison from 2003 to 2010, after pleading guilty to sexual battery and extortion. He served another three months in 2012 for domestic abuse battery.
