Mary J. Blige Breaks Her Silence On Alleged Brawl With Faith Evans At New York Fashion Week

As many of us saw, singers Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans were trending all over social media as we headed towards the end of New York Fashion week.

Reports circulated that the ladies of R&B exchanged blows allegedly at a party at Diddy’s place in the Hamptons Friday night.

Despite the absence of any footage, official reports or statements from eye-witnesses of from the singers themselves, the news of a Mary versus Faith brawl co-headlined on Twitter with Cardi vs. Nicki’s physical altercation.

It’s even hard to figure out where it originated…or why someone would make this up. Attention?

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has now reached out to Page Six to address the rumors of the alleged scrap in an official statement.

As she walked in a Dennis Brasso show on Monday, a reported asked Mary J. Blige about the Faith Evans fight rumor. Just as suspected here, Mary confirmed that it was simply fake news.

“Of course that was made up. I was shooting a movie in Louisiana . . . I just got here today,”  Blige told the site.

Her comments seem to match up to what an insider dished to HollywoodLife about what actually happened unraveled at the bash!

“There was no Mary J. and Faith smackdown [Friday]night. So it came as a total surprise to see it crop up on social this morning… The party was balling, and I didn’t see any altercations between anyone at all, it was a pretty chill night.”

“The story is completely fabricated,” the Executive Vice President of Communications for Combs Entertainment told Heavy.

“I have no idea how this rumor started. Puffy didn’t even have a party,” One of Evans’ representative relayed to HollywoodLife. The newly-wed wife of Stevie J was reportedly in Newport Beach, California, during the time of the alleged incident in Long Island, New York.

Whispers of an issue started on Twitter where some users posted things like, “Mary j Blige and Faith Evans just got into a physical altercation at P. Diddy’s NYFW party.”

The Internet seemed willing to accept news of the fake brawl instead of questioning where was the proof of it.

The two r&b icons worked together in the 1990s while signed to Diddy’s label. They recorded a duet “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” in 1995 but later had a falling-out.

Blige and Evans buried their beef in 2005 after performing together at the BET Awards.

For the record, we never believed the Faith Evans/Mary J. Blige fight rumors anyway. We’re happy this can be buried now.
