Report: Man Kills Girlfriend's 3-Year-Old Daughter For Not Putting On Her Pajamas

A 22-year-old Missouri man named Jalen Vaden has been charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter. Vaden` reportedly slammed toddler Jayda Kyle against the floor over an incident about her pajamas.

The 3-year-old died from traumatic head injuries sustained when her mother's boyfriend repeatedly threw her against the floor of her bedroom on Nov. 27, according to an affidavit filed Thursday by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

The affidavit states that Vaden admitted to the horrendous acts in an interview with a sheriff's deputy on Wednesday.

Vaden lived with the little girl's mother and three children in Carl Junction, with one of the children belonging to him. He is reportedly the father to a son named Quincy.

There are many sweet photos posted on Facebook showing Jalen with the child's mother, Devyn, and their blended family. Vaden appeared to be a doting father figure to the little girl.

Vaden flew into a rage when 3-year-old Jayda refused to put on pajamas he had instructed her to wear.

He allegedly picked the child up and threw her on the floor, before throwing her on the bed two times. Vaden then reportedly grabbed her by the leg and threw her face-first onto the floor. He left the room and later returned to find little Jayla bleeding and unresponsive.

Vaden, 22, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of child abuse, and was charged with second degree murder and felony child abuse.

Jasper County Prosecutor Theresa Kenney revealed Vaden remains on a no-bond hold.

The charges allege Vaden inflicted serious injuries on the girl, "causing her head to strike the floor and that she died as result of those injuries," Kenney said.

Little Jayda was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin where she was diagnosed with "abusive head trauma".  She was then transported by medical helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she died Dec. 1, less than four full days after the incident.

Carl Junction police Chief Delmar Haase said previously that detectives had interviewed both Vaden and the girl's mother, Devyn Kyle.

Haase said law enforcement has cleared Jayda's mother Devyn Kyle of any wrongdoing.
