Fair Or Too Far? See Why This Father Was Arrested after Whooping His 5-Year-Old Daughter

We are going to be upfront and honest with you; this story made us super sad. So if you aren’t in the mood to be hit with an equal-parts-depressing-and-baffling tale right now, click away!

A 25-year-old man named Dennis Murdock was recently taken into jail after it was discovered that he had left bruises on a 5-year-old girl’s lower body.  An unnamed individual noticed the marks when they picked the girl up from Murdock’s residence and understandably alerted authorities.

Are you mentally prepared for the worst part now? Because it’s coming.

After he was arrested, he confessed that he couldn’t “believe it’s illegal to whoop [a child]”.

Yikes. Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm. Do people really not know that it’s illegal to beat a child? It is one thing to be like “Oh, the way I discipline my kid is my business”, but another thing altogether to simply not be aware that this isn’t A-okay.

Oh and apparently the little girl might not have even been his daughter, as his relation to the child he hit has yet to be revealed. Okay then. And he was released on bail and NO CHARGES WERE BROUGHT AGAINST HIM. Ridiculous. In between this and the OJ-Simpson-has-a-chance-of-getting-out thing, we are ten levels of done with our nonsensical court system. Is everyone just phoning it in now?

But, on the plus side, a judge has ruled that he is no longer allowed to have contact with her or any other minors. Seems like a fair decree. Who even knows what other illegal actions he might inadvertently commit? Better to be safe than sorry, we say. Besides, what kind of person thinks that hitting a kid with a belt will help her to stop “acting out in school”? An idiot.

On a lighter note, please enjoy this high-fiving puppy (don’t worry it’s not the one that Robin Thicke took a bath with).
