Report: Man Allegedly Killed Stepson And Ordered Boy’s Brothers To Sleep Beside Dead Brother's Body

A Florida man has been charged with murdering his step-son, with the tragic incident coming about over a cookie.

Jack Junior Montgomery, 31, is being held at the county jail on $870,000 bond after he told admitted he repeatedly punched and kicked 7-year-old Brice Russell after the child got out of bed to get a cookie.

Montgomery then forced the boy’s brothers to sleep in the same bed with Brice's lifeless body all night.

The boy's mother, Donya Shenita Russell, was working a double shift at the time the horrific incident occurred inside the Seffner Masters Inn, where the family were living.

Assistant State Attorney Matthew Smith told a judge, "While she was out working he chose to physically discipline this child himself. Repeatedly punching and throwing him on the ground… Threatening bodily harm upon the two brothers if they did not partake and equally discipline him."

The child's brothers explained to police that they were forced to watch Montgomery punch Brice in the head and stomach several times with a closed fist.

Smith said, "(Montgomery) picked him up and flung him as described by the other brothers, helicopter across the hotel room into what’s kind of a cabinet, where he hit head first and ultimately caused his brain to bleed."

One child did hit Brice because he was scared for his life, according to deputies.

Montgomery put the child’s body into bed and forced his siblings to sleep next to his body until the following morning.

Jack Junior Montgomery is charged with felony first degree murder in the Dec. 31 death of Brice Russell.

Montgomery called 911 to report that his stepson would not wake up the next morning. Police arrived to find Brice lying on a bed, where he was pronounced dead.
