Pregnant Teen Mom & Boyfriend Allegedly Torture And Fatally Beat 4-Year-Old Son To Death Over Spilled Cereal — Video

A pregnant 19-year-old mother and her boyfriend from Pennsylvania have been charged in the death of her 4-year-old son. The little boy, Tahjir Smith, was beaten to death after he accidentally spilled his cereal.

Lisa Smith, 19, and her boyfriend Keiff King, 26, of Willow Grove, near Philadelphia, were arrested on Tuesday after they called 911, saying her Tahjir was unconscious.

In an interview, Smith told investigators that her son had spilled cereal. His mother said she saw Tahjir running toward a couch, being 'sneaky.'

She confronted her son and he began to stutter out of fear, admitting he had spilled cereal.

Smith took Tahjir to the back bedroom to be disciplined, ordering him into the 'position,' which she told police was similar to a push-up position. The little boy moved and she claims she told him, "You are playing with me."

Smith told her boyfriend, Keiff King, about Tahjir’s behavior later that afternoon. Tahjir was allegedly ordered into the position several more times as punishment. At one point, the boy put his knee down while in the position.

Smith told police King punched Tahjir in the back of the head. After that, she put Tahjir on a bed, naked from the waist down, as she and King alternated took turns hitting the boy on his bottom with a sandal.

Tahjir urinated on himself during the beating and the couple placed him in the shower, Smith told police. King turned the water from cold to hot, saying Tahjir’s punishment hadn’t ended. That was when the little boy became unresponsive.

Tahjir was still unresponsive after the shower and his mother later claimed she wanted to call 911, but King told her, 'He is still breathing. He is cool. He is still up.'" according to the documents.

Smith told police that she watched Tahjir's eyes roll back and his mouth open.

King put clothing on Tahjir and the couple took him outside, before calling 911.

Police responded to reports of a respiratory emergency, arriving to find the little boy dead.

Smith, 19, and King, 26, were charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, child endangerment, and related offenses.

Montgomery District Attorney, Kevin R. Steele, said in a statement, "This senseless death of a 4-year-old boy at the hands of the very adults who are supposed to care for him and keep him safe is a horrible tragedy. This is the face of domestic violence — a preschooler was beaten until he stopped breathing because he spilled his cereal."

The coroner’s office had yet to determine the cause and manner of death Tuesday evening, but a preliminary examination shows Tajhir hadolder rib fractures along with the recent injuries.

Smith and King were arraigned Monday before District Judge John D. Kessler, with bail set at $500,000 each. The couple remain in jail after being unable to post bail. They are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 31.
