Kevin Gates Will Reportedly Be Freed From Prison This Week — See Conditions of His Release

Things seem like they could be spinning into a better direction for Kevin Gates.

Reports say that he will be released from jail next week.

Lindsay Hess (of the Illinois Department of Correction) told TMZ that the musician is getting out on parole; the terms of his release conditions include “mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms.”

A bit ago, he penned a letter for his supporters, while behind bars. It read, “"Dear loyal fans, Disallow yourselves to be troubled in my time of absence. All of the great ones who came before and will come after me: Have had to go through this. By this I am speaking in reference to hardship. A great person is measured by all of the great test they can undergo and still remain to to who they are. What that being said, 'I'm him.' I love you all. In closing I remain the same. Forever, Kevin Gates."

Kevin was found guilty of misdemeanor battery in 2016. Because he kicked a concert goer.

The rapper claimed he acted in self-defense, insisting the woman continued to grab at his shorts in an attempt to pull him into the crowd.

He was captured on a cellphone video, kicking a 19-year-old named Miranda Dixon at Lakeland's Rumors Nightclub. She admitted she tugged on his pants twice to “get his attention” for her friend. Miranda (who was attending the show) testified that after the second time, the rapper kicked her so hard that she fell backwards and then passed out.

In 2015, he told Complex, "Two wrongs don't make a right. Life is about conduct and how we conduct ourselves. But two wrongs never make a right. But I'll say this, I'll use Nicki Minaj again cause people tell me that women love her and people love her: If I was to go front row while she was on stage performing and stick my finger in her [expletive], and she kicked me in the mouth and knocked one of my gold teeth out, I would be wrong. I would be wrong for that, and that's all I'll say."

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail for the assault in Florida. He was nearly released in March, but was reportedly re-arrested after it was discovered that he had an outstanding weapons-related warrant.

Eventually, he was extradited to Illinois to serve his current 30-month sentence on a felony gun possession charge.
It looks like #KevinGates will be eligible for parole VERY soon 👀 @realdrekagates, what's tea, sis?

Herschel Rush, the rapper's attorney, told TMZ that Kevin plans to “devote considerable time and resources talking to troubled teens and sharing anecdotes from his own life in hopes they'll avoid the same pitfalls.”

We’re glad that not only Kevin Gates gets to be reunited with his wife and kids but that he’s all for “Scaring the Kids Straight” upon his release
