Rapper Kevin Gates' Parole Eligibility Date Brought Forward

It appears that Kevin Gates may be getting out of prison sooner than expected! The rapper's parole date has been pushed up five months earlier, which means Gates could possibly be released in January!

The Illinois Department of Corrections' website has updated the details on the rapper's status. His projected discharge date, releasing him of any legal supervision, is also set for exactly one year later in 2019.

Gates was found guilty of misdemeanor battery in 2016 after kicking a female fan in the chest during a 2015 concert.

The Baton Rouge rapper claimed he acted in self-defense, stating the the woman continued to grab at his shorts in an attempt to pull him into the crowd.
It looks like #KevinGates will be eligible for parole VERY soon 👀 @realdrekagates, what's tea, sis?

Gates was captured on a cellphone video kicking 19-year-old Miranda Dixon at Lakeland's Rumors Nightclub.

Dixon, who was attending the show, admitted she tugged on Gates' pants two times to get his attention for her friend. She testified that after the second time the rapper kicked her so hard that she fell backwards and passed out.

Dixon, who was on 18 at the time of the incident, admitted herself to the hospital following the incident and had to undergo a CT scan.

Gates told Complex in 2015, "Two wrongs don't make a right. Life is about conduct and how we conduct ourselves. But two wrongs never make a right. But I'll say this, I'll use Nicki Minaj again cause people tell me that women love her and people love her: If I was to go front row while she was on stage performing and stick my finger in her [expletive], and she kicked me in the mouth and knocked one of my gold teeth out, I would be wrong. I would be wrong for that, and that's all I'll say."

Gates was sentenced to 180 days in jail for the assault in Florida. He was close to being released in March, but he was re-arrested after they discovered he had an outstanding weapons-related warrant.

Gates was eventually extradited to Illinois to serve his current 30-month sentence on a felony gun possession charge.

Fans of the rapper are thrilled to hear Gates may be released soon:
