‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Star Kandi Burruss Announces Major Decision Despite Daughter’s Disdain

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss recently announced big news about her mission to expand her family.

The 42-year-old shared that she's going the surrogacy route in having a baby girl, despite what her daughter Riley believes about her mom’s work-life balancing abilities.

“We decided we want to get a surrogate,” Kandi told US Weekly, noting that the process will be, of course, documented on Real Housewives of Atlanta. “I guess we’re not taping anymore so  I guess I can tell you that we did find someone, and right now we are in the process — you know it hasn’t been done — but we’re in the process.”

Burruss, who also told US Weekly that she's extremely nervous about the process, has been vocal about her struggles to conceive on Real Housewives of Atlanta. The reality tv star and her hubby conceived their son Ace Wells Tucker together through IVF.

Aw. We all saw this coming though, right? Kandi’s desire to bring another little one into the family was shared by her on the RHOA season 11 premiere (November 4th). At the time, Kandi spoke up about not leaving any “teammates behind,” as her husband Todd Tucker put it.

“We still have two embryos,” Kandi explained. “I don’t feel right just leaving them in the freezer.”

While the baby news is exciting for Burruss, it won't be so exciting for her 16-year-old  Riley.

She believes the hard-working parents aren’t often home for their kids, including Kandi’s 21-year-old stepdaughter Kaela Tucker and her 2-year-old Ace Wells Tucker.

When Burruss told her teenage daughter about the female embryos awaiting in the freezer, Riley snapped back, “I feel fine telling you to leave them in the freezer.”

“You work too much … I know I get sad when you just come back for like, a day or two, and then leave back out,” she told them.

The Xscape singer isn't deterred though, despite the fact that she is admittedly “kind of scared” about what this journey will be like.

“Like, I don’t have anybody that can tell me,” the singer explained. “When we were going through the IVF process, I did have a couple of friends who had done it, so, you know, I could talk to them, but this is a situation where I don’t have anybody I can talk to.”

Kandi shared that the two remaining embryos are girls. While Riley might not be jumping for joy at the prospect of welcoming another baby into the mix, Kandi pointed out that her daughter “said [the same thing] when we had Ace and now she’s in love with Ace.”

Reactions to this are pretty mixed. Fans soon made their voices heard.

“Did she not hear Riley?,” one follower pondered.

“Well she can afford them!!! Congratulations,” a second quipped.

“Her daughter said she don’t have enough time with the kids she got now. Selfish asf,” a third declared. However, another said, “Kandi is beautiful & successful. She can do WHATEVER SHE WANTS with her life and family.”

Season 11 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sunday nights at 8p/7p central on BRAVO.
