Watch: Jada Pinkett Smith Confesses She’s Terrified Of Going Bald Amid Unexplained Hair Loss — Video

Jada Pinkett Smith may be killing it when wearing a head wrap, but the actress revealed the new look isn't just a fashion statement. The "Girls Trip" star admits she suffers from hair loss and fears going bald.

"A lot of people have been asking why I’ve been wearing turbans," Pinkett Smith, 46, said on the latest episode of her Facebook Watch show, "Red Table Talk."

She continued, "Well, I haven’t talked about it. It’s not easy to talk about, but I am going to talk about it. I've been having issues with hair loss."

Jada recalled, "And let me tell you, it was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair [fell out] in my hands. I was like, 'Oh my god am I going bald?'"

The actress continued, "It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear. That's why I cut my hair and I continue to cut it."

Pinkett Smith debuted a cute asymmetrical bob look at the beginning of the year and has kept her hair short since.

"My hair has been a big part of me," Pinkett Smith continued. "Taking care of my hair has been a beautiful ritual and having the choice to have hair or not. And then one day to be like, ‘Oh my god, I might not have that choice anymore.’"
That new freedom for me means... not expecting anyone to love me more then I love myself:) Bout to go live at Five PDT/Eight EDT on the @RedTableTalk Facebook ✨ Link in bio

The wife of actor Will Smith adds that she remembers a time when people used to ask her if she had a weave due to her hair being so thick.

Jada shared that she had consulted with experts on the hair loss, who determined she has alopecia. However, has yet to be able to determine the exact cause.

She shared, "I’ve gotten every kind of test there is to have. They don’t know why."

Although she was initially "terrified" to lose her hair, Pinkett Smith admits she finally was able to put her struggle into perspective.

Feels good to be back ✨

"I really had to put it into a spiritual perspective, like the higher power takes so much from people. People are out here with cancer. People have sick children. I watch the higher power take things every day," she explained. "Looking at it from that context really did settle me," she added.

Jada has had to embrace the condition and stated she wears her head wraps with pride. She said, "When my hair is wrapped, I feel like a queen."

Jada currently stars on the Facebook series alongside her daughter Willow and mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris. The three generations get candid on a variety of subjects during their streaming show every Monday.

When she wears a turban now, she feels ‘like a queen,’ as she should!
