Jada Pinkett Smith Explains 17 Year Long Secret Feud With Gabrielle Union In More Detail — Video

The beef between Gabrielle Union and Jada Pinkett Smith seems like it was always pretty, uh, petty. More like a miscommunication than anything else, we guess? For like seventeen years though.

As Gabrielle once explained, "Jada nor I ever used the word feud… Back in the day, neither one of us knew originally what took place back then, but the people that we had around us were like, ‘Well, you know how she feels about you’."

"And then it was like, ‘Okay, girl, bye’ for 17 years. And even though we’re both very outspoken women, we’re both activists, our husbands are friends, we both felt we had too much pride and too much insecurities to actually say, ‘Hey, did that ever happen or was that a creation of someone else who did not want to see two women rise together?’

But we are happy that these two are working through it. Yay for girlfriends!

Yesterday, during yet another episode of her Facebook show, Red Table Talk, Jada explained what led to their longtime lapse in communication, admitting that she might have been to blame.

“I think who I was back then was a young, egotistical girl who was just like, ‘OK, if she wants to have a problem with me that is fine, ’cause what difference does it make?’ And one of the points Gab brought up is that it makes a huge difference because, at the end of the day, there is only a handful of us in this business. And I think we grow older and we mature and realize that we really cannot appreciate yourself without appreciating other women,” Jada dished.

“I was just young and stupid and not wanting to share. That’s all that is. It’s ego.”

(Gossip in the City previously put out a blind item that suggested that the drama was caused by Gabrielle landing a part in husband Will Smith’s movie, "Bad Boys II.")

How did this all end up working out? A phone call between the pair, which apparently ended up being "a deeply healing moment."

“There are so many of us that hold onto stuff, that we don’t even know why we’re holding on,” she noted. “And we’re hurting ourselves more than we’re hurting the other person. The idea of releasing someone and releasing yourself, she and I felt so good about it.”

Jada also had Gabrielle swing by the show to talk a bit ago and it was really lovely actually!

Take a look at their cathartic interview below:

We're glad these two could put the pettiness behind them!
