‘Insecure’ Season 3 Finally Gets A Premiere Date + The Tea On Who's Not Returning To The Hit Show — Video

Calling all Insecure fans—we have some very exciting news for you!

Well, hard details about the HBO hit are finally floating around all over the place.

Creator Issa Rae threw out a surprise announcement on Twitter on May 17th, with a little help from Yvonne Orji, Natasha Rothwell and Amanda Seales.

Issa asked her cast mates to answer the question their character receives the most. Yvonne jokingly inquired why Molly’s life is such a mess, while Amanda pondered over the paternity of her character’s baby. Natasha playfully wondered if she is anything like no-flying-fruits-given Kelly.

Oh and Issa then joined in, noting that she’s always asked when is Insecure coming back…and to that they all replied, “August 12!”

Watch the adorable announcement below:

Chatter about Season 3 bubbled up not long ago, after HBO announced they were partnering with Afropunk for a music contest, giving the opportunity for up-and-comers to have their music crop up on the show.

So clever.

To date, the breakout smash has earned a Peabody Award, an AFI award for Best TV Program of the Year, as well as placing third last year in the African-American Film Critics Association’s Top 10 TV Shows…in addition to an array of nominations.

Insecure Season 3 returns August 12, 2018. That is too far away. Time, speed up!

You know who won’t be returning to your screens this season?

They shootin'. Season 3. #InsecureHBO

Jay Ellis, who portrays Lawrence a.k.a. Issa Rae’s on-screen love interest.

In a recent interview on The Angie Martinez Show, while spilling details about his role in the smash hit series, Ellis mentioned that he's been a bit "out of the loop" in regards to the plot and filming schedule of season three and wasn’t sure if he’s even be apart

"I'm a little bit out of it," he shared. "I'm not really... They've been filming for the last six or seven weeks or something like that."

To be fair, this isn’t all that shocking.

A professional exit from the show may not be so strange though, as Lawrence and Issa said goodbye to one another during the finale of season two.

"I don't know if there is a relationship," he added of his character and Issa's. "There was closure at the end. There was like, full closure."
Wait.... wut??!! Word on the Curb is that #JayEllis from @insecurehbo MAY NOT appear in sseason 3...👎🏾🤨😯 #DreamStillLives #sundaymotivation #NeverEndingComedy #sundayfunday
So, is that a wrap on Lawrence's run on the hit prime-time series?

"Isn't that life?"

However, not all hope is lost as there is still an inkling that he may get that phone call that can change the course of this narrative.

"I don't know. I honestly, truly don't know," he continued. "I might get a call tomorrow and they gonna be like, 'Ay, can you come do this?' And I'll be like, 'Yeah, I'll be there.'"

Outside of the Jay Ellis news, are You as thrilled about the new season of Insecure as we are?
